Jeff Phelps

CEO and Owner

Jeff was born in Buffalo in 1964. After completing his schooling Jeff moved right into the tree care industry working in the Rochester, NY area. Jeff started his own tree company in 1986. In 1998 Jeff’s company merged with The Tree Doctor. At the time The Tree Doctor only managed insect and disease issues. Jeff brought with him the skills to develop a pruning and removal division at The Tree Doctor. Since joining The Tree Doctor Jeff has developed a tree pruning and removal division unrivalled in the Buffalo area. Under his guidance The Tree Doctor has developed a client list of 3000 residences and businesses that rely on The Tree Doctor for emergency tree work, routine tree maintenance and high quality tree pruning.

In recent years, Jeff has turned over control of the tree department to Chris Nicastro, and has focused on building our Vegetation Management division. This part of the company specializes in removing invasive or unwanted plants from protected wetlands, along right-of-ways, under power lines and so on.

Jeff and his wife Jessica were married in the summer of 2018.

Chris Nicastro

Head of Sales

Chris was born in Buffalo in 1979. Chris started at The Tree Doctor as a summer helper while he finished his urban forestry degree at Paul Smith’s college in the Adirondacks. He finished second in his class. From his early days it was clear that Chris was driven and motivated to advance The Tree Doctor’s ability to provide quality tree care. Chris worked as both a spray technician and a tree climber for 7 years, excelling at everything he did. Chris now manages the majority of sales and organizes the daily schedules of the tree pruning and removal crews. Chris is an Internationally certified arborist.

Chris and his wife, Brandy, live in Darien NY with their 3 children, Dominic, Avery and Annabella.
